According to Kisii Catholic Priest Edward Kambaga, the church, as well as the Government, has failed to contain the pressure the youths as well as the grown-ups are undergoing and therefore the increase in suicide cases.

“I propose that each school, health centers as well as the church to a have guidance and counseling centers as the rate at which Kenyans are taking their lives is alarming and that should be done as soon as possible,” said Kambaga.

Speaking on Monday the priest regretted that he has been attending a number of burials recently and shocking enough majority of them involved victims who had committed suicide.

His concern comes at a time when Kisii, as well as Nyamira County, has recorded over 10 deaths resulting from suicide in a span of one month.

The most recent case happened in Menyinkwa area in Kisii County where lifeless body of the man only identified as Ombati was found hanging in his house over the weekend.
