A section of University students in Eldoret on Sunday came out to request young Members of Parliament to block the arrest of 'Takataka' hit maker Alvin alias Alvindo.
This comes a few days after The Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) spearheaded by Dr Ezekiel Mutua recorded a statement with the police after the controversial singer and his producer failed to honor the 14-days summon issued by regulator.
Alvindo's song 'Takataka' was banned on allegations that it degraded women
The students claimed that KFCB was frustrating young artists who are trying to make a name for themselves in the entertainment business.
“KFCB is out to frustrate young hard working artists who are trying to make it in the entertainment showbiz. We therefore appeal to young Members of Parliament specifically Babu Owino to present a bill to parliament that will see the ban on the song get lifted,” Dancun Kimtai a third year student at Moi University stated.
The students also requested young Members of Parliament to be active in defending youths when such matters arise.
“The youths of Kenya stood with Babu Owino when he was still a student at the University of Nairobi up to when he was elected as an MP. I think it is high time that he became the defender of youths when we need him most especially in such a situation,” David Otieno noted.
This is not the first time the students have come out to defend the singer. Earlier on, they requested Dr Mutua to lift the ban on the song.
The youths are now hoping that the Embakasi East MP will hear their cries and come to the rescue of Alvindo.
