The Director of Public Prosecutions Nordin Haji on Sunday skipped a fundraiser at the White Star Restaurant, a move that has sparked storm in his home county.
In what has widely been termed as unusual of him, DPP Haji also did not send a representative or even sent a message of apology in the event that was attended by leaders and professionals from Garissa, Mandera and Wajir counties.
At the time of going to press, this writer could not confirm if the DPP, later on, sent his contribution in aid of the ailing former finance CEC Idris Mukhtar.
Apparently, his father Senator Yussuf Haji also skipped the event.
His absence coupled with that of his father has caused jitters, with locals speculating on what might have led to the duo missing the event.
However, Aden Duale while presiding over the event said some more people were still on the way coming.
It could not be established if the individuals 'still on the way' with their contributions include the senator and his son.
Other individuals who skipped the event include Governor Korane, who later on sent his contribution of two million shillings.
