On Friday, Deputy President William Ruto toured Fafi Constituency in Garissa county to preside over a funds drive in support of Madrassas.
In a function attended by almost all local politicians in the region, Ruto managed to raise an unbelievable amount in a record time of just three hours.
It can now be revealed that DP Ruto collected a whooping Ksh 11 million in the Friday Fafi funds drive.
However, the amount contributed by the DP in person could not be easily known as the figure was never made public at the function.
The DP was flanked by a number of politicians who, notably, made their contributions towards the cause.
Garissa Women Representative Ms Anab Subow Gure who spoke during the function called on the national government to support religions institutions across the country.
"I urged the leaders to give an equal support to religious institutions across the country since we all have a solemn obligations upon us. We managed to fundraise Kshs. 11 million for the madrassas in Fafi subcounty," she posted on her official social media page.
