Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's order barring Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) from engaging in 2022 political debates.
Duale says that CSs have a lot of work to deliver to Kenyans and are not allowed to engage in politics.
Speaking to journalists at his Parliament office on Wednesday when he hosted a delegation of German parliamentarians, Duale asked cabinet ministers to devote themselves to service delivery.
“We are fully behind President Kenyatta’s order barring CSs and government officials from politicking,” he said.
The MP said it is too early for anyone to start campaigns for the 2022 general election.
Duale asked Kenyans to be firm and demand services from their elected leaders.
He said that the Jubilee government's development agenda will be actualised if all leaders concentrate on service delivery.
Last week, President Kenyatta issued a stern warning to CSs and other top government officials engaging in 2022 succession politics.
President Kenyatta said he will not hesitate to sack cabinet ministers who defy his order.
The president said Kenyans have a right to be given services by government officials.
Some CSs have openly engaged in 2022 succession politics.
