Hundreds of mourners thronged into Magare village where Sharon Otieno's lifeless body was displayed for public viewing, with local leaders gracing the occasion.

Interestingly, ODM leader Raila Odinga, despite Sharon's death attracting national outcry, snubbed it for another funeral for Mzee Aketch Chieng', a member of Luo Council of Elders.

Before joining Raila at Chieng's home, a section of leaders briefly passed by and condemned the death.

"I will ensure the family gets justice. You cannot murder the future of people and expect to go scot free. That's impossible," fired area Women Representative Gladys Wanga.

Homa Bay Township MP Opondo Kaluma added: "As the family lawyer, this must be handled to the conclusion. We must have some people convicted."

Others who shortly passed by include Rongo MP Paul Abuor, Mark Nyamita of Nyatike, Millie Odhiambo and senator Otieno Kwajwang.

Governor Okoth Obado, who admitted having impregnated the slain student, has denied murder charges at High Court in Nairobi.

And along with his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, they will know their bail application fate on Wednesday before Justice Jessie Lessit.

Ms. Otieno, who was stabbed eight times by her killers, survived with three children who are now under the care of her parents Douglas Otieno and Melida Auma.
