A Ford Kenya insider and Moses Wetangula's confidant Aggrey Nalianya has sensationally claimed that Devolution minister Eugene Wamalwa has since dumped DP William Ruto.
In an exclusive interview, Nalianya, who at some point worked with Wamalwa, says Eugene's strategy to keep off Ruto's functions is informed by their deteriorating relationship.
"He dumped him long ago when he realised Ruto is afraid of Luhya unity. That is why you have never seen him loitering around the country.
"For your information, Ruto vehemently opposed Eugene appointment to cabinet in January and even wanted him deployed elsewhere as an ambassador. They are no longer working together," he claimed.
Instead, he argues, Ruto has now invested in Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and former Kakamega Senator Bonnie Khalwale to champion his 2022 interest in the vast Western region.
On Friday, Ruto dismissed calls by Khalwale to have him pick running mate from Western Kenya, citing proximity to Rift Valley as an impedance.
"Kakamega is just 3 kilometers away from here. It won't make sense of I just do that. People know that we share a lot as neighbours," he said in Turbo.
The handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta also precipitated Wamalwa and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to work with the faction supporting the historical reunion.
With Ruto making at least 15 trips to Western in as many months, Wamalwa has often snubbed the functions further raising eyebrows.
