ICT principal secretary Jerome Ochieng was in Kisumu on Monday where he presided over the dissemination of the Third Medium Term Plan(MTP III).
In his speech, he said that the objective of the plan is to ensure that County officers and members of the Public are familiar with projects outlined to be implemented in the period 2018 - 2022.
He added that the realization of Vision 2030 and Big Four Agenda will solely depend on the development of the ICT sector in the nation and that is the reason why the ministry has been setting the pace for innovative technology in the continent.
According to Ochieng' many projects will be anchored on ICT thus the need to put in infrastructure that can propel the county in the technology world.
He announced that the government has set up an assembly plant for digital devices in two locations in the country to institutionalize manufacturing of ICT equipment in the country.
''The role of ICT in the implementation of vision 2030 is very and very essential in the sense that ICT provides an enabling environment through which some of these programmes and projects will be implemented,'' Said CS Ochieng'.
The PS added that the government will rely on ICT to roll out Universal Health Coverage across the country and that the ministry will come up with a fibre connection to various health centres to make telemedicine a reality.
