A kidney patient is calling on the members of public and well-wishers to help him raise Sh5.5 million for his treatment.
Zacharia Roble Mohammed who has been suffering from a kidney failure for over eight months, is admitted at the Garissa County Referral Hospital where he is undergoing routine dialysis for detoxification.
Speaking to this writer from his hospital bed, Roble revealed that his family was unable to meet his ballooning medical bills at the county hospital, leave alone getting a kidney transplant.
For the better part of 2018, Roble has been in and out of Nairobi East hospital.
He now says his only hope lies with well-wishers to help him get back to normalcy.
"I have no one to look up to. My family is very humble and are now struggling to make ends meet. I am appealing to well wishers to help me fund my bills and even let me have a kidney transplant if possible," he said.
Roble further revealed that he had to undergo weekly dialysis sessions to help him cope with the malfunctioning vital organ.
Donations can be channeled through paybill number 394378. Inquiries can also be sought through 0723653345.
Roble's appeal comes at a time that the World Health Organization (WHO) has sounded alarm on rising cases of lifestyle diseases, ranking cancer, high blood pressure, kidney failure as top three killer lifestyle ailments.
