Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko Friday revealed that the popular Oshwal Centre is among structures earmarked for demolition.
Addressing the media in Gigiri, flanked by County officials, Sonko said that rumours being bandied around about the impending demolition of the temple were indeed true.
"We respect all our religious institutions. We are going to allocate them land to build it elsewhere. We will consider that. Already we have served them a notice. We are going to allow them to remove their things because we don't want to be malicious," Sonko said.
The government has in recent days moved in on structures built on public and riparian land.
Oshwal Centre is a popular temple were Indians conduct spiritual rituals.
There had been speculation that the religious temple was among structures targeted for demolition.
