Detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Saturday intercepted and arrested 24 aliens who were being driven through the bush in Merti, Isiolo County.
In a tweet on Sunday, the DCI noted that among the twenty four, 18 were Ethiopian nationals and 6 were Eritreans.
"Yesterday, Twenty four Aliens-18 Ethiopians and 6 Eritreans-were arrested at #Merti following a combined operation by the security team," read the tweet in part
The tweet further stated that the driver who was transporting the immigrants escaped and that the DCI detectives were looking for him vowing to arraign the immigrants in Court on Tuesday
"The immigrants were found being driven thro’ the bush from Moyale to Nrb to avoid detection. Driver Escaped bt being sought. To be charged on Tuesday." it added.
The DCI has been working round the clock to control crime and unravel crimes both local and of national interest within the country as enshrined in the National Police Act
Trespassing transnational borders without authorization or legal clearance by the country is a criminal act and a breach to immigration policies.
