A cold relationship is growing between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, a Jubilee Party Senator has said.
Kericho lawmaker Aaron Cheruiyot said although the two leaders seem to gel well in public, there was a lot of 'unresolved issues' which risk splitting the ruling party.
Speaking during NTV's AM Live Show on Tuesday, Cheruiyot pointed out that the recent evictions of settlers at Mau Forest top in the list of issues likely to 'kill' UhuRuto marriage.
The Senator noted that the renewed heated debate on the country's major water tower conservation needed sobriety and honesty, warning it could be the last nail in the Jubilee coffin.
"If there is one thing that can tear Jubilee and it is forgotten that there used to be a party known as Jubilee, it is the issue of Mau," he said.
Cheruiyot reiterated that Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju must apologise to the people living in Mau for allegedly supporting their eviction which he observed was a gross violation of human rights.
"I was very disappointed by the Jubilee Party Secretary General because of a statement he read on Sunday. For me, I felt it was a bit naive. The issue of Mau is so complex," he said.
Tuju has maintained that the government won't back down on its efforts to conserve the water tower and warned politicians contradicting the directive of disciplinary action.
Leaders from the DP's Rift Valley backyard have vowed to oppose the evictions on grounds they are being carried out in an inhumane manner.
