Deputy President William Ruto has never been shy to say he is a hustler, a term used in Kenyan context to mean basically someone who works extra hard to get something that others may be getting without working for it.
Renowned political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on his channel the 5th estate under Fort Hall school of government explained how Ruto's tactic is related to typical hustler tactics.
"One, hustlers are anti-authority, hungry and in a hurry. They have a big appetite for good things and they will stop at nothing to get them In fact if a hustler cannot get what he wants he is forced to take it, the mantra is simple, get it no matter what, " said the analyst.
The analyst also suggested that hustler mentality is what made Ruto be the King of Kalenjin nation.
"Two, hustlers are always suspicious of the deal, their heads are wired to trust no deal. They are driven by a passion to run as far away from their past as they can. This is why they do not trust deals, they trust only in themselves," added the analyst.
He added that if Ruto removed himself from a chicken seller to becoming the deputy President then it's no coincidence he doesn't trust a deal to make him President.
"He will make himself the President, with or without Uhuru and Kikuyus, that's the hustler way."
