Deputy President William Ruto enjoys the backing of a majority of Rift Valley residents and leaders, most of whom are in office due to his blessings and the Jubilee Party.

However, it is only a few of these leaders who enjoy major backing in the region and national recognition, with the remainder not having much influence among the people.

DP Ruto is likely to use such figures to head his campaigns in the region as he eyes the national vote upon the open of the campaign window with regards to his 2022 presidential bid.

These would obviously include Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who has maintained his relevance since he came to office in 2013.

Murkomen, a close ally to the DP has also been very vocal, resulting in him becoming a notable Rift Valley leader whose contribution Ruto will need very much, and could head his campaigns in the county.

Also very likely to be in the list is Samson Cherargei, the Nandi Senator who despite being in his first term, has managed to stand out among other regional politicians.

As a main defender of the DP, people should not be shocked to see Ruto entrust Cherargei with the job of delivering the Nandi county vote and also intrude into the other counties.

The other very likely people will be the vocal youthful Belgut lawmaker Nelson Koech who has also not been wasting any time to respond to Ruto's critics.

Alongside the area Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, they could be picked to deliver the Kericho vote while Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi delivers the Uasin Gishu vote.

Also in the campaign will be county bosses who are all allied to the DP.
