There is high tension currently among Kisii county Boda boda riders after it emerged that a section of county workers have been interfering with elections of Boda boda officials.
The riders led by Fred Ndunda, who is the Hema Boda boda stage chairman, said the riders have failed to elect new officials because local politicians and county workers have their preferred candidates for various positions.
"It is sad that as Boda boda riders we have been facing difficulties in electing our officials due to the selfishness of county workers who are trying to impose people as our leaders. No rider is going to accept impunity in the Boda boda sector," he said.
Ndunda challenged Kisii County governor to intervene and ensure riders are given the opportunity to elect new officials without the influence of county workers.
According to Ndunda, riders pay a monthly revenue charge and therefore, county employees should keep off the riders' affairs.
"Any county worker who wants to be an official at the Boda boda sector should resign and vie instead of causing trouble. We may stop paying revenue to the county if elections won't be held," he added.
