Police in Nairobi are investigating an incident where one of their colleagues was allegedly drugged and robbed of his gun in Highridge, within Parklands.
The officer was later found motionless by the roadside with his Jericho pistol which had 44 rounds of ammunition missing, over the weekend.
The incident was confirmed by Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo who on Sunday said that the officer attached to Riruta Police Station also lost his personal belongings during the incident.
The officer was allegedly drugged at a local club before being driven away and dumped by the roadside.
The incident came only days after another officer committed suicide in Dandora estate, by hanging himself using a piece of cloth in his house.
Constable Moses Maina Gichuki who was attached to Lokorio Police Station committed the act on Wednesday night. He was on annual leave at the time.
This National Police Service has since introduced a psycho-education programme to handle cases of police suicide which have been on the rise.
Most of the officers who have taken their own lives were most likely pushed to that by stress.
The exercise will begin in Nairobi according to an initial announcement by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
