Speaking on Radio Maisha on Wednesday morning, the former Nominated Senator revealed that she is a mother of nine children.

She, however, noted that the majority of them are adopted, and are under her care out of goodwill, some of whom are in university.

‘’Niko na watoto tisa, wengine si wangu lakini kwangu wote ni wangu (I have nine of them, I consider them all mine though some are not biologically mine),’’ she said.

Elachi was recently at the centre of a storm following an attempt by Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to oust her.

The situation later took a violent and disorderly turn after some of the MCAs stormed her office in a bid to forcefully evict her on September 10, over allegations of misappropriation of public coffers.

She was, however, reinstated by the Labour and Industrial Court amid outcries from the MCAs under the leadership of Majority Leader Abdi Guyo.

But according to Elachi, she foresaw her troubles in the hands of the members long before taking over.

‘’Nakumbuka nikiambia marafiki zangu kwamba kazi haitakuwa rahisi, hata kumaliza miezi sita ilikuwa Mungu tu (I knew what awaits me, I never even expected to stay past 6 months),’’ she added.
