Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo has assured speedy investigations following the death of a 16-year-old form three student at St Don Bosco Secondary School in Nyabiosi, Masaba North in Nyamira County.
Apondo said the deceased Cliff Mayieka went missing on May 20 2019 only for his decomposing body to be recovered lying on a floor of a pit latrine within the school compound.
"It is a shocking incident not only to villagers but also detectives. I wish to assure parents and members of the public that probe will be done speedily to establish whether the deceased was killed or he committed suicide since his hands were tied in the pit latrine," he said on Tuesday as reported by Egesa Fm.
The OCPD said police officers from Keroka moved the decomposing body to Gucha hospital morgue.
He challenged members of the public and school management to cooperate with detectives investigating Mayieka death.
"Anyone with information regarding the death of Mayieka to report detectives," he noted.
Apondo wondered why the school management did not report to parents or police when the deceased went missing from the school.
