Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has dismissed plans by teachers to go on strike.
According to Maangi, teachers planning to go on strike are selfish and should be condemned.
"Teachers threatening to go on strike should know boycotting a job will disrupt vital examinations. It is high time the teachers' officials change their mind and ensure the KCPE and KCSE exams which is due to start goes on well without any hitches," he said.
Mr. Maangi warned KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion against pushing teachers to go on strike.
"Sossion is a leader who must be at the forefront championing for the education of children and not threatening for a strike during this time KCPE and KCSE candidates are set to sit for their final exams," he added.
He urged teachers across Kisii County to ensure they are not disrupting the final exams.
"I wish to appeal to teachers across the county to remain in school so that they can help candidates sit for their final exams. All we want is candidates to excel in exams," he noted.
He was speaking on Saturday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Gusii Stadium.
