Homa Bay Township lawmaker Peter Kaluma has weighed in on the alleged widening rift in the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking on Saturday, Kaluma noted that the party could indeed be having trouble remaining united, judging by the latest happenings.
He cited the recent instance where supporters of Deputy President William Ruto were seen donning yellow t-shirts during his tour of Kiambaa, Kiambu county.
According to Kaluma, this demonstrated that the DP and President Uhuru Kenyatta are having issues, considering that yellow is associated with Ruto's now-defunct URP party.
"We recently saw the DP's supporters dressed in yellow, colours associated with his URP party. It seems that party is not as steady as we are being made to believe," he said.
"Actually, it seems Jubilee is no longer a party but is once again an alliance as it was initially," he added in an interview on Radio Nam Lolwe, Saturday morning.
The close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga said that Jubilee cannot be compared to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which, according to him, is stronger.
Kaluma also pointed out that Jubilee has not been having meetings and elections, proof that things are bumpy within the once invincible side.
"We as ODM are the strongest party in Kenya and East Africa currently. We cannot be compared without colleagues in Jubilee who are having it hard even convening meetings," he added.
However, his remarks come only two weeks after the party lost in two by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South, which raised questions about its strength.
