A furious President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday banned Mt Kenya MPs from reaching him through press conferences, reports the Nation.
Instead, Uhuru told the legislators"You know where and how to get me". He was apparently responding to their complaints that he is unreachable, and that they have not been able to meet him since the 2017 elections.
Early this week, at least 70 MPs drawn from the larger Mt Kenya region gathered in Naivasha where they accused Jubilee administration of 'marginalising' the region.
A tough talking Uhuru wondered why the MPs were not working in tandem with ministries, adding that he was tired of their persistent 'politicking and loitering'.
"This region has challenges facing the coffee sector. Instead of loitering, they should sit down with Cabinet secretaries and look for solutions,” he said, as MPs kept off media after the meeting at Central Region Commissioner's residence.
In the meeting, it's claimed, a vocal MP from Kiambu was scolded by Uhuru over his persistent appearance in the media.
“The President was particularly angry with an outspoken Kiambu MP for engaging the media. We have sworn not to speak to the press. The reports on our Naivasha meeting misquoted the proceedings,” one MP claimed.https://mobile.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Uhuru-Kenyatta-reads-riot-act-to-Mt-Kenya-MPs-/3126390-4833126-n6rn78z/index.html.
During the tense meeting, Uhuru is said to have insisted that he's 'firmly incharge' and that he will name his successor when time comes 'and that it will shock people'.
Central Kenya legislators are divided on who to support in 2022 with one faction pushing for creation of a post for Uhuru are retirement and another one pushing for DP William Ruto's candidature.
