When he was picked to head the Sports and National Heritage Ministry early last year, the nation wondered who this new man was.
He was not familiar to the eyes of many people from his Western Kenya region, probably because he was never seen in mainstream politics, let alone the remaining Kenyans.
Back at home, in Western Kenya where there still exists subtribe competition, he broke a record set by his forefathers and most specifically King Nabongo Mumia in 1945.
As a son of the Wanga sub-tribe which had not tasted any major powerful seat in many years, he became the first to fly a flag and enjoy full power after a very long time.
The last time the Wanga came close to the same was in 2008 when Dr Ellon Wameyo was appointed to the Cabinet, but he was just an Assistant Minister without a full flag.
Actually, the power has always rotated around the Bunyala, Maragoli and Bukusu while the people who ruled the region and parts of Rift Valley watch and clap from the touch lines.
But it once again came crumbling down on Friday when President Uhuru Kenyatta in his wisdom fired the CS and replaced him with his former education counterpart Amina Mohammed.
His next move only time will tell.
