In a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting chaired by party leader Raila Odinga at the Park Place Hotel in Nairobi, the bloc maintained its ground on party discipline and adherence to rules.

In a statement on his Facebook page after the meeting, ODM Director of Communications  Phillip Etale said that a number of rebels will be expected to face the NEC at a later date before the declaration of their fate.

These include Malindi lawmaker Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori.

‘’The NEC shall invite the members recommended for expulsion to appear before it at a special NEC meeting to be held early next year prior to the final decision being taken, reads the statement in part.

This follows an initial report by the party disciplinary committee seeking the expulsion of the two over their closeness with Deputy President William Ruto who hails from the rival Jubilee Party.

‘’The Disciplinary Committee in its report recommended the expulsion from the party of Hon. Aisha Jumwa (MP, Malindi) and Hon. Suleiman Dori (MP, Msambweni) for gross misconduct,'' it reads.

The two have also been seen publicly drumming support for Ruto who is laying out the foundation for his 2022 presidential bid, a race that could see him compete against Odinga.

If found guilty, the two will be expelled and their seats declared vacant, resulting in a by-election to refill their slots.
