President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the first Kenyans to send their congratulatory message to Eliud Kipchoge after winning and setting a new world record at the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon men's race.

“Congratulations @EliudKipchoge for breaking the world record at the #BerlinMarathon2018. I also congratulate his compatriots Amos Kipruto & Wilson Kipsang' for going out valiantly to bring a 1-2-3 victory for #TeamKenya. You are our heroes. Kenya is proud of you.” he posted.

Kipchoge 33 years old, won the race in 2:01:39 breaking Dennis Kimetto’s 2014 world record of 2:02:57. 

It was jubilations in the German capital as the top three spots were taken by Kenyans. Amos Kipruto finished second while the 2013 Berlin Marathon champion Wilson Kipsang came in at the third position in 2:06:20 and 2:06:47 respectively. 

After sending his congratulations message on Twitter, Kenyans seized this opportunity to “attack” the head of state and even Kenyan politicians at large.
