Kisii County Assembly Speaker David Kombo has broken silence over alleged plans by a section of politicians to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.
Mr Kombo termed Matiang'i as a hard working civil servant who has put the interests of poor Kenyans at heart.
According to him, politicians who want to push Matiang'i out of government have sensed danger given his role in government as Chief Minister.
"Matiang'i is a man of integrity and this is why some politicians who have found it hard to compromise him are uncomfortable. I wish to confirm that Matiang'i is a God-chosen leader," said Kombo.
He reiterated that should Matiang'i vie for Presidency in 2022, Kenyans will rally behind him.
"He (Matiang'i) served at education docket and the country's education system improved. We expect him to deliver in the interior docket and ensure the police officers are alert at all time. Matiang'i should not take the cheap threats over his impeachment," stated Kombo.
The Speaker challenged elected leaders not only in Nyamira and Kisii but also across the country to prioritize development. He was speaking on Monday at Kisii County headquarters.
