Kenyan football legend Joe Kadenge has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke.

Kadenge, who played for the national team is currently undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital after he was taken ill on Wednesday.

Confirming the incident, his son Oscar, said that Kadenge’s health has been deteriorating in the past months. 

He called upon Kenyans from different walks of life to pray for him as he undergoes treatment after the facility.

"The doctors say it is a stroke and he has not been able to talk for the past two days," said Oscar. 

Kadenge went into the books of history as the most skillful player to ever play for Stars and played for different clubs including Maragoli United and AFC Leopards. 

The sportsman, who used to play as an attacking midfielder, has been unwell for some time. Different leaders from across the country have been paying him visits in the recent past. 

Some of the notable figures that have visited Kadenge include President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

On December 23, 2006, Kadenge was rushed to hospital after collapsing at the Toyoyo Grounds in Nairobi under unclear circumstances. 

He has remained an inspiration to many talented youths from different parts of the nation.
