Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi has expressed confidence that Deputy President William Ruto will overcome all the possible challenges to ascend to the presidency in 2022.
This, however, comes amid emerging hurdles especially within the ruling Jubilee Party, where he seems to be losing the initial support he had from all the members.
Speaking to the Monday Standard, Sudi said that the DP has his own fallback plan and has among others, been courting leaders from other regions to cement his presidency.
He said that not even a realization of the rumours of a possible betrayal by the President Uhuru Kenyatta side of Jubilee or possible collapse of the party would stop the DP.
According to the vocal lawmaker who adds up as a strong ally of Ruto, the DP is a clever politician who is most likely aware of such happenings in politics and is therefore very prepared.
“He knows there are those who support him and those who oppose him. He has his strategies,” he was quoted.
This comes barely two weeks after former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe claimed that he will put up a strong battle against the DP's candidature.
This has been taken as one of the schemes by powerful sources having interest in the presidency to block Ruto for reasons best known to them.
However, the defiant and resilient Ruto has maintained that he is ready to battle his way up and will not sit back and wait for endorsement.
