Nyamira police are currently pursuing a middle aged man for allegedly faking the death of his mother with an aim of sourcing funds from well wishers.
According to the brothers to the suspect, they realised that their brother faked the death of her mother so that he can get financial assistance from well wishers.
"I received a call from a friend telling me he was sorry for the death of my mother. I was wondering when my mother passed on and upon enquiry, I found out that one of my brother had misled them," said Evans Raini, brother to the alleged con
Raini further said upon investigations, he realized that his brother have been having fake burial cards, calling friends for help.
Confirming the incident Kura, location assistant Chief Obed Kibwage said he was informed of the matter and when they raided the house of the man, they found out that it was true he had printed cards for harambees.
"Upon checking his phone we realized that he has been receiving money via MPesa from various relatives,friends as well as known politicians for the 'fake' burial arrangements.
The chief further said the man is currently being held at Nyamira as he awaits to be arraigned in court.
