Deputy President William Ruto may have to steer off the ongoing gold scandal debate ahead of his Friday's trip to Nyamira, Borabu MP has said.
In a press conference on Friday, Mr Momanyi, the host of the event, accused DP William Ruto's allies of spreading falsehoods against interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, arguing that the ongoing debate is based on witch-hunt.
"They must respect Dr Matiang'i because he's working. Any attacks against him will be presumed to be war against Omogusii. We shall stand with him and nobody will take us back," he said.
The second term MP insisted that MPs should instead focus on service delivery instead of engaging in endless negative politics.
"I hear that they now want to impeach Matiang'i based on imaginations. That's the last thing we shall allow them to do. We know those stealing. Let these MPs get busy."
Dr Ruto is set to fundraise for SDA churches at Mokomoni District, a stronghold of the Dr Matiang'i. And Mr Momanyi now wants the two to be tolerant, adding that time for campaigning is far.
"I am not in Kieleweke or Tangatanga. I will be glad to host the DP. We are now handling development issues. Dr Matiang'i should also consider coming. We are not campaigning."
It will be Dr Ruto's first trip to Nyamira ever since a section of MPs allied to his camp threatened to impeach Dr Matiang'i over fake gold scandal.
