Rongai sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Julius Kavita has warned chiefs tolerating illegal gambling machines.
Speaking at Kampi Ya Moto on Thursday after he led an exercise where 32 illegal gambling machines were destroyed in the area, the DCC, while terming the gambling machines as disaster, said as administrators they will not watch as youths lose focus through illegal gambling.
“The machines are a disaster and we have agreed together with the OCPD that they should have no room in our society,” said Kavita.
According to the DCC, a section of individuals have been operating the machines in the area contrary to the law.
The DCC, citing Salgaa and Rongai centre, as the most affected areas.
This, he said, has been contributing to insecurity in the areas mentioned as youths are engaging in illegal activities to get money for gambling.
The operation was also witnessed by Rongai OCPD Japheth Kioko and local chiefs in the area.
