Richard Onyonka, Kitutu Chache South MP while speaking during an interview at Citizen TV on Tuesday, said the Head of State must respect the rule of law and Constitution so that he can retire in peace.

"Mr. Kenyatta will be completing his second and last term. I want to tell him that he must retire from politics to give room for others to lead this country. Those Jubilee lawmaker pushing him to remain in power beyond 2022 are selfish and they are out to serve a hidden agenda," said the vocal legislator.

Onyonka, who has declared interest in Kisii County gubernatorial seat in 2022, condemned a section of Jubilee MPs who have started politicising the President's retirement.

"It is too early for the Jubilee MPs to start panicking holding meetings in hotels to discuss 2022 succession. I am urging elected lawmakers allied to Jubilee to focus on serving the electorates and stop engaging in premature politics," said the Ford Kenya Party MP.
