Here are four ways your house could be ruining your health.

1. Presence of moulds

Moulds grow in dark places and this could be under the carpet, in the ceiling or the areas beneath or around the sinks. Moulds have spores that cause allergic reactions as well as respiratory diseases. Removing the moulds and keeping these areas a bit dry will solve the problem.

2. Addiction to scented sprays, candles and fresheners

All these contain chemicals and phthalates that interrupt with the hormones thereby affecting the endocrine system. This can lead to hormone-related diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disease, growth disorders, sexual dysfunction and Osteoporosis among others. To decorate your house, use flowers.

3. Most of your kitchen items are made of plastic

Plastics contain a harmful chemical called BPA (Bisphenol A) that can get into the food when served hot. This chemical will interfere with your hormones leading to diabetes or cancer. Ditch the plastics and opt for stainless tableware or glassware.

4. Presence of dust

It is difficult to thoroughly clean a congested house and this retains dust posing a risk to your health as it can lead to respiratory diseases. Make sure your house is not too congested for better cleaning.
