Administration police officers in Nakuru on Tuesday netted bhang worth Sh1.2million.
The officers from the special unit, known as Administration Police Operation Intelligence, trailed a vehicle that was transporting the bhang towards Mbaruk from Nakuru.
It was netted at Mbaruk area in Gilgil.
Addressing media at the Nakuru regional DCI offices, Nakuru East deputy county commissioner Herman Shambi said that two occupants of a Toyota Fielder that was being used to transport the bhang fled on foot after they were stopped by police.
“The occupants of the vehicle were using the old Nairobi road in order to avoid a police roadblock mounted near Greensteds School,” said DCC Shambi.
According to the administrator, police have been put on high alert to ensure that such drugs do not pass through police roadblocks.
He said the bhang was to be sold to school students.
He added that such drugs were to blame for the wave of unrest in schools and called on parents to be on the lookout.
“We want to call on parents to know the whereabouts of their children especially during the holidays so that they do not engage in drugs and substance abuse,” he said.
