Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has hit out at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over his recent claims that Jubilee Party did not win the 2017 presidential election.
Duale says that Raila’s statement a week ago is not good and can easily taint the handshake.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Leader of Majority in National Assembly asked Raila to be true and sincere to the handshake he had with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9.
The MP said that the former Prime Minister move to discuss 2017 issues when he agreed to push for unity with President Kenyatta does not help.
“Raila should stop revisiting 2017 issues if he is serious in working with the Jubilee government on unity and reconciliation of Kenyans,” he said.
Duale said that the fact remains that President Kenyatta won the August 8 presidential election and also the October 26 repeat presidential poll.
The Jubilee MP said that it is time for leaders to move the county forward adding that petty issues will not help solve issues.
Last week, Raila was quoted saying that he won the August 8 presidential election.
Odinga claimed that the Supreme Court vindicated him when it nullified President Kenyatta victory.
Raila was reacting after Deputy President William Ruto said that leaders should learn on how to accept election outcome.
On March 9, President Kenyatta and Raila agreed to shelve their differences and push for the country’s unity and reconciliation through their famous handshake.
