According to area police boss Michael Lesmum, the suspect only identified as Bonareri has been a notorious illicit brew dealer in the region.

"Police officers have been hunting down the woman who has been making, selling and distributing illicit liquor in the region. She was nabbed while crossing over to Sotik," he said.

Lesmum lauded local chiefs and community policing officials who conducted the crackdown.

"395 liters of chang'aa was recovered from the suspect. A crackdown on illicit brews is ongoing to nab illicit brewers," he added.

He warned residents against engaging in dubious businesses saying the law will not side with criminals.

"This country is governed by the law. Whoever caught engaging in illegal businesses will face the full force of the law," said Lesmum.

The police boss challenged locals to venture into farming and other legal businesses to avoid arrests.

He dismissed claims that police officers have been soliciting bribes from chang'aa brewers arguing that any government representative nabbed collecting bribe will face the law.
