Led by Kakuyuni ward representative, Nixon Muramba, a section of leaders in Kilifi county said on Thursday that the decision was timely and that people of Malindi were ready for a by-election to ‘teach’ the vocal Malindi MP a lesson, that will serve as an example to other leaders who seem to walk in the same path.

Muramba said that Jumwa made it to the parliament through ODM but from nowhere she decides to support Deputy President William Ruto and oppose all of us in the party.

“More than 40 ODM MCAs are not happy with the Malindi MP’s 'waist-shaking' politics. And we are informed that the three MCAs who have been rallying behind Jumwa are also planning their exit strategy,” Muramba said on Thursday.

Muramba hailed party leader Raila Odinga, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, deputy party leader Ali Hassan Joho, and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi for their effort to ensure sanity in the party is maintained, and asked them not to be worried since Jumwa 'will be floored' as early as 11 am should the by-election happen.

He said, “we want to tell Jumwa not to bother to contest in the by-election because she will be ashamed, the ridicule songs she used to sing for Jubilee will now turn against her.”

However, Jumwa’s die-hard supporters maintained that the legislator was innocent and asked the ODM Governing Council to reconsider itsdecision.

Malindi branch ODM chairman Hosea Hagai Chome said in an interview on Friday, that Jumwa does not deserve such a punishment because she has been working hard for the party in Malindi.

Speaking at the MP’s offices, Chome said, “It’s surprising it is the Malindi and Msambweni MPs alone who are being victimised while there were many leaders who were supporting DP Ruto.”

Chome urged the ODM National Governing Council to reject the two reports, saying "as Malindi residents we feel she is being victimized for nothing,’’ he said.
