Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i has warned Chinese contractors against harassing residents at construction sites.
SpeaSpeaking on Friday at Kegati, he said Chinese contractors hired to work on various roads in the entire Gusii region should respect the host community.
"Foreign road contractors more particularly the Chinese must respect the host community by ensuring they don't harass any casual laborer at the construction sites. Anyone who will be caught harassing our people will face the law," he said.
Mr. Tong'i urged residents who are working on the various construction sites with Chinese nationals to report any harassment to authorities.
The lawmaker maintained that Kenyans won't be turned into slaves in their country.
"Our people must feel to be at home. I am calling on Interior Cs Fred Matiang'i to ensure foreigners caught harassing residents are deported immediately," he noted.
He challenged leaders to consider awarding road tenders to the local contractors so that cases of foreigners assaulting and harassing Kenyans are curbed.
