Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has insisted that all is not lost in the fight against corruption led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This comes amid attempts to slay the dragon that has for years portrayed the nation in bad light internationally and resulted to loss of billions of public monies.
Mudavadi now says that Uhuru can still realise his dream of a graft-free nation before his pending 2022 retirement, by bringing on board both sides of parliament.
He stressed on the need for Uhuru to allocate more powers to the anti-graft institutions, to make them more lethal, resulting in fear among the corrupt.
"Uhuru atumie majority yake kwa bunge ili vitengo vya kupigana na ufisadi vipate nguvu zaidi ( Uhuru should use his majority in parliament to give the institutions more powers)," he said on Milele FM's Kivumbi show, Monday morning.
The ANC chief was speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi show on Tuesday morning.
He also weighed in on the recent introduction of new currency notes, arguing that the move by the government through the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) was long overdue.
He noted that it was supposed to follow immediately after the start of the implementation of the current constitution.
The former Finance Cabinet Minister advised that Kenyans should not fear the changes, saying that it is something that has always happened in Kenya under every regime.
He said that all the four past regimes under Presidents Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki at some point made changes on the currency.
"Kenyatta alipokuja pesa ziliwekwa sura yake, Moi alipokuja akatoa sura za Kenyatta akaweka yake, akaja Kibaki akatoa za Moi akarudisha za Kenyatta, si kitu kipya," he said.
It loosely translates to in English: "This is nothing new, Kenyatta put his portraits on the money when he came to power, Moi then replaced the image with his and Kibaki removed Moi's image and reintroduces Kenyatta's. It's not something new."
