This is after Sifuna on Wednesday released a statement to denounce some of the remarks made by Deputy President William Ruto during an exclusive interview with Citizen TV.

Alai claimed the press release, in which the ODM SG described the DP as a 'pathological liar', caused tension in the opposition outfit after some members raised concerns over its contents.

"The statement by Sifuna has brought lots of divisions within ODM. Many senior members of the party say the statement is childish and poorly delivered. Apparently, even Raila is not happy with the statement," Alai tweeted.

During News Night segment on Tuesday, Ruto claimed he declined a truce with Raila who had approached him four times before his famous March 9 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

To address the allegations, Sifuna wrote: "Under ordinary circumstances, right thinking people would never be constrained to reply to a pathological liar with an almost deranged mentality like William Ruto. But these are no ordinary times..."

The former Nairobi senatorial seat aspirant also went hammer and tongs when attacking the DP for allegedly failing to support the purge on corruption.

"The fact that Ruto is a thief with no remorse, a blackmailer with no shame, a rich man without working for it, should worry the entire country. For him really there is nothing wrong with corruption and we should learn to live with it," Sifuna said.
