Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday appeared to endorse National Assembly Justin Muturi for the Embu gubernatorial seat in the approaching 2022 general polls.
Speaking during a prayer service for Manyatta MP John Muchiri in Kigari, Embu on Sunday, the DP noted that the latter has enough experience.
He said that he will blame area MPs should the Speaker fail to secure 'what he is looking for', though Muturi is yet to publicly declare his bid for the seat currently under Martin Wambora.
“Hakikosa ile anatafuta, nitawalaumu nyinyi wabunge,” “(If he fails to get the position he is aspiring for, I will blame you MPs),” he was quoted by the People Daily.
He was accompanied by area leaders, among them Kiambu county boss Ferdinand Waititu, and nominated MPs Cecily Mbarire and Charles Kariuki (Mbeere North).
Others were Senator Njeru Ndwiga and Geoffrey Kingangi (Mbeere South).
The DP made the remarks shortly after visiting Kiambu county where he defended area Governor Ferdinand Waititu over claims of a bloated county budget.
His follows claims that in the 2017/2018 budget, the county allocated some money for unexpected purposes, including free primary education and upkeep of former presidents.
