By 6pm, the stadium was rocking. The score-line read 3-0 to Kenya courtesy of Michael Olunga, Victor Wanyama and a man of the match performance by Eric Johanna, who kept fans on the edge of their seats throughout the afternoon.
On Friday, the Deputy President had promised the stars a cash prize of KSh50 million should they qualify for the African Cup Of Nations Finals.
However, Group F is not as straightforward as it seems.Last week, The Confederation of African Football (CAF) suspended the double header tie between Ghana and Sierra Leone.
This was due to the Sierra Leone’s failure to meet certain conditions by FIFA.This means that the country’s Football Federation loses all rights with the national team and all affiliated clubs; and their national team cannot participate in any international matches until their suspension is lifted.
Ghana could be awarded the 6 points from the 2 canceled games against Sierra Leone. This would put them top. If Sierra Leone are taken out of the group completely, the two ties they have played with Kenya and Ethiopia could be nullified, completely altering the standings in the group.
As it stands, Kenya are in firm control of Group F. However, Sierra Leone face a race against time to appeal their ban.
