In the African culture, a man is supposed to use all his efforts to pay dowry before he is given a wife.

The efforts he puts in will determine how much he loves the lady, and how willing he is in appreciating his wife's people, or rather his in-laws, in that, the amount of money you give as the bride price is directly linked to your love for the woman.

However, some situations might force one to give less bride price even if he loves the lady so much.

Some guys even end up being denied the chance to marry because of failing to raise the amount of money demanded by the other family for the bride price.

Such cases raise concerns whether women should work hand in hand with their men in ensuring they meet the target of the bride price set by her parents.

Sometimes women might be in better financial positions than their men, and very willing to help their husbands to be in raising the bride price but are limited by the African culture.

Kenyan ladies have different views over this debate, with the majority of them still buying the idea of 'it is the responsibility of the man'.

Here is the debate.
