Migori Governor Okoth Obado will suffer double tragedy in the event that former Cabinet Minister Ochilo Ayacko wins the county senatorial seat in the approaching by-election.
Having openly declared his opposition for the former Rongo parliamentarian, Obado will have nowhere to hide his face should Ayacko be declared victor in the much anticipated poll.
He will begin experiencing leadership problems, as the same will translate to disrespect from his Members of County Assembly (MCAs), most of whom belong to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), on whose ticket Ayacko is vying.
The win will have completely silenced him, considering that he has been talking tough against the veteran politician, and will both lack the moral authority to speak on matters politics and be too embarrassed politically.
He should as well expect to be invited to Ayacko’s homecoming ceremony, both as the Governor and to be further embarrassed, humiliated and proved wrong.
There, in the event that he attends, he will meet the likes of Suba lawmaker John Mbadi who doubles up as the Orange party chair, who will most likely use the opportunity to warn the governor and all potential rebels that the party remains unshaken in the region.
Also, the governor who is reported to be financing the campaigns of Ayacko’s rival Eddy Oketch will have lost his finances in the instance that Oketch loses.
He should be expected to go silent and operate silently for the remainder of his term should Oketch not emerge the winner, and will now live at the mercy of Ayacko who will be at liberty to attack at any time.
Obado will be isolated for going against the dominant party whose ticket propelled him to office and will not enjoy any massive support to enable him combat Ayacko who has all major leaders from both the county and the Nyanza region on his side.
This will render Obado a one man team and powerless.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of former Senator Ben Okello who succumbed to cancer in June, this year.
