President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday made history by visiting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters at Mazingira Complex off Kiambu Road.
Uhuru became the first sitting Head of State to visit DCI headquarters since the formation was established in 1926, then known as Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
"The visit by President @UKenyatta to the DCI Headquarters is the first ever by a Head of State in the history of Kenya," reported State House in a tweet.
Uhuru was in the facility to award and honour officers drawn from the National Police Service (NPS) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) who have been leading the war against corruption.
He congratulated the two offices and encouraged them to continue working together noting their collaboration in the fight against graft was bearing fruits.
"We are one Government and we must, therefore, work together for the people of Kenya. This is the only way to win as a country in the face of terrorism, organised crime and other vices that threaten our national security," he said.
The President pledged to continue supporting the modernization of NPS and ODPP so as to effectively and efficiently deliver to the people of Kenya and demanded results from them.
"As we do all to support you, we will also be firm and hostile to officers who misuse their positions to the expense of Kenyans, the taxpayers who pay taxes for us to get our salaries," Uhuru stated.
