Police officers in Awendo Sub-County are holding a truck driver who is accused of running over his turnboy, killing him on the spot.
The driver identified as Ouma Jawuoche was arrested following the accident which occurred after they left a weighbridge in Ranen area.
The turnboy is yet to be identified.
“He fell down and was crushed to death with the tractor. He died instantly,” said Onyango, a witness.
According to Onyango, the panic-stricken driver attempted to escape after the accident occurred but members of the public and the police trailed him to a sugarcane plantation and arrested him.
The driver has however denied committing the offence.
Confirming the incident, Awendo OCPD Mary Musyoka said the driver was arrested after members of the public and witnesses confirmed that the two had left the weighbridge together.
“The driver is being held at Awendo Police Station while the body of the turnboy has been taken to Rosewood Hospital Mortuary in Rongo awaiting postmortem examinations,” said Musyoka.
