Since his departure from Italian giants Internazionale just a year after joining them from Parma, he has never quite really gotten his career back on track.

The tall central midfielder went to Spanish mid-table club Real Sociedad where he had a relatively nice loan stint before his otherwise promising career took a turn for the worst.

Injuries hampered his stay at the Anoeta Stadium and had to go back to Inter, a club that was on the back of lifting the European Champions League as well as the Club World Cup.

From his loan stint in Spain, he never went back to his best as injury after injury meant he was unable to stay fit for consecutive matches and was deemed surplus to requirement at the San Siro.

He had to compete for the starting berth with the likes of Inter icon Javier Zanetti as well as the then evergreen Argentine Esteban Cambiasso. As a result, he was sent back to former club Parma.

That was when his career sadly nosedived and never took off. Injuries are to blame for unfortunately robbing the Kenyan game's most promising as well as best ever midfielder.

Mariga then had stints at various second and third-tier Italian clubs before finally moving to Spain.

He remained low and was never really in the forefront of media coverage.

He now plies his trade in the Spanish second tier league with strugglers Real Oviedo.

He is only 31 at the moment and its everyone's hope that he makes a comeback to the international scene even if it is for one more year before he disappears.
