The Rarieda MP while speaking on NTV's AM Live show asked Khalwale to tell the firebrand Malindi legislator to resign in order for a by-election to be conducted.

"Boni Khalwale, it is your turn to tell Aisha Jumwa to resign, accept her expulsion, so that we can go for a by-election and test her confidence with her not being in ODM," said the MP.

Otiende's remarks follow criticism which ODM has received from Kenyans across the political divide especially after it lost in last week's two by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South respectively.

The former Ombudsman chair further noted that if Jumwa resigns, they will field a strong candidate on an ODM ticket who will clinch the seat.

He further backed Siaya Senator James Orengo for his immense role in campaigning ODM's candidate Chris Karan, adding that people should stop blaming Orengo for the loss.

"A lot of people are blaming James Orengo, and it is misplaced blame. James Orengo took his time and resources to lead the campaign in Ugenya," he added

The ODM party Governing Council early last month approved Jumwa's expulsion from the party over her links with DP William Ruto.
