Duale, in an interview on Tuesday, said that he is aware that the party could be planning disciplinary action against the MPs.

According to Duale, the Jubilee MPs who voted against the Finance law went against orders of the party leader.

“I am aware some MPs who went against the President Uhuru Kenyatta's order will be served with show-cause letters,” he said on Tuesday.

Duale said that disciplinary process is a reserve of the party's secretariat.

The Garissa Township MP said that the move by some Jubilee MPs to revolt against the president painted a negative picture.

“We are the people who have the majority and it was an act of indiscipline against the party for some MPs to vote against the president order,” he added.

On Saturday, Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju in an interview with KTN News confirmed that action will be taken against MPs who voted against the Finance law.

A section of MPs allied to Jubilee Party and opposition voted against the Finance law that imposed an 8% Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel and petroleum products.

Before the debate, President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga had lobbied MPs to pass the bill.

The Finance Bill passed under controversial circumstances and is now law.

A section of MPs have threatened to challenge the Finance law in court.
