It is alleged that the late identified as Albert refused to go to bring their two goats from a grazing field prompting his father Samuel Okindo to cane him thoroughly.

"It started raining when I asked him to ran and bring the goats home in vain. I got angered due to his rudeness and caned him thoroughly before neighbours rescued him," said Mr. Okindo.

Okindo said Albert locked himself inside his bedroom where he hanged himself.

"I sent his young brother to call him to eat supper only to find his lifeless body dangling from the roof of the house," noted Okindo.

Okindo said an alarm was raised to attract members of the public who arrived to witness the incident.

Area assistant chief Daniel Onsase described the deceased as a boy who had no bad record in the village.

"It is shocking that Albert took his life just because he was caned by his father. He was a good boy in the village who had a promising future," he noted.

Onsase urged parents to find alternative ways of punishing their children to curb unnecessary deaths resulting from suicide.

The chief said the deceased body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue.
