The office of the Director of Criminal Intelligence has finally arrested a lady suspected of burning her husband to death on Boxing Day, it has emerged.
Mrs Jackline Mageto is believed to have touched Johnson Mageto alive at Nyaronge village in Kitutu Masaba before running to unknown destination.
Nyamira DCIO Millicent Ochuka confirmed the latest development and subsequently hailed homicide detectives from Nairobi who have been trailing the suspect.
”She has been on the run for two months now and the DCI had to send detectives from Nairobi to help us. She was arrested at Magwagwa ward in her distant grandmother’s home on Thursday. She will be arraigned in Keroka to answer to murder charges,” she said.
The victim was buried a day after the incident and mourners were not allowed to view his remains because he was burnt beyond recognition.
Mr Kennedy Sese, the Deputy County Commissioner in charge of Kibra and a relative to the deceased, said the latest development would help the family get justice.
“As part of the family, I am relieved now. I was under pressure to ensure justice is done. She has been on the run but I want to thank the DCI for the good work,” he said, adding that he hopes for speedy prosecution.
Mrs Mageto, a mother of four, could be charged alongside one other suspect, who is said to have helped her escape the murder scene on the fateful night.
